We’re excited to announce the launch of the Michelin Index and with it the ability to search over 14,000 name entries from the Bibendum staff magazine for the years 1936 – 1951. This first instalment, created by our dedicated group of volunteers, is the first in what we hope will be a number of indexes from all kinds of records in the Archive.
The social impact of Michelin UK on the city of Stoke-on-Trent has been great and many people have family or friends who have some connection to the factory or its well-known sports and social club – the Michelin Athletic Club. Our first set of names was captured from the stories and events relating to the local plant, its other group sites and the social life it generated as documented in Bibendum.
We’ve created a Michelin Index page which explains things in a little more detail, or you can click the box below to get started straight away. The index is hosted on a separate website so you’ll be taken there to begin your search.
The Michelin Index is hosted on the Staffordshire Name Indexes website, brought to you by the Staffordshire & Stoke on Trent Archive Service, a service administered jointly by Staffordshire County Council and Stoke on Trent City Council.
